Stockholm, Albert Bonniers förlag, 1913. 4:o. [iv] + 102 s. + 11 plates.
Publisher’s cloth decorated in gilt and black, lightly soiled, slight wear. Fine.
Provenance: Swedish artist Carl Larsson (1853-1919), with his bookplate printed in red, later crossed out by himself in pencil and inscribed in the margin to his youngest son (b. 1900), ”Till Esbjörn! C. L.”
Larsson designed his own bookplate, and this must be an exceedingly rare example of the bookplate signed by the artist.
Carl Larsson painted a few portraits of Selma Lagerlöf (Nobel Prize in 1909), but plans to illustrate her works were never realized.
