Contemporary half calf, spine richly gilt, an attractive contemporary binding with only slight surface wear. Presented by Swedish King Karl XIV Johan (1763–1844), formerly Maréchal Bernadotte, to artist and portrait painter J. G. Sandberg. The inscription is presumably by Sandberg.
First edition, the second appeared in the following year.
